The 2024 MLS season has got underway, and with it Apple has announced that Season Pass users can watch on Apple Vision Pro, while also promising that fans will soon also get a 3D immersive film of the highlights of 2023's championship games.

For those that aren’t all that in to tech, Apple Vision Pro is Apple's first spatial computing device (a bit like a Virtual Reality headset, although not quite as quite it’s mixed reality with AR and VR applications). It shows the user a video feed of approximately 4K resolution per eye of their surroundings, adding apps and UI to the environment in a 3D space. Apple refer to it spatial computing, as it blends software with the world around the user via video passthrough. Got that? Good. Well with one year down in the Apple x MLS 10-year partnership, the second year will now see a shift in gear as viewing options extend to the Vision Pro platform.

With MLS season pass on the Apple Vision Pro, fans can watch games alongside other apps in their physical space; within an Environment, so the screen feels 100 feet wide; and in Spatial Audio for an even more immersive viewing experience. And it doesn’t stop there, with Apple announcing more to come as the season progresses: “Coming soon, all Apple Vision Pro users can experience the best of the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs with the first-ever sports film captured in Apple Immersive Video. Viewers will feel every heart-pounding moment in 8K 3D with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio that transports them to each match.

This is set to be an entirely new and immersive way to watch football from the comfort of your own home. If your partner thinks your attention is bad now when you’re watching the footy, they’re in for some bad news.
