All aboard. Manchester United reveal their 2018/19 adidas home shirt as a tribute to the club's founding roots. Marking 140 years since the club was born as Newton Heath (Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway) Cricket and Football Club, the 18/19 home jersey features a train track graphic.

Set to be worn on pitch for the first during United's pre-season tour of the USA, the new shirt is one of the most unique in recent times. A quick history lesson will relay that the team was originally formed in 1878 by the Carriage and Waggon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath, and initially played games against other departments and rail companies at their home ground at North Road, Manchester.

In 1892, the club entered the English First Division – the highest league in the country at the time, before changing its name to the now world-renowned Manchester United in 1902, and moving to the iconic stadium of Old Trafford in 1910. It's these earliest of days that inspired the new home shirt on a landmark year for the club.

The rest of the kit is completed by the return of black short and complementing black socks. Black stripes also sit on the shoulders to match the train track graphic towards the bottom half of the jersey.
