Nike have undoubtably saved the best until last this season as they continue to roll out their nostalgia soaked third kits for the 2019/20 campaign. Next up are Chelsea with another slice of tasty 90s flavour.

Diving into 1990s jersey culture to produce a 2019/20 third kit reminiscent of a celebrated era for the club, the design is predominantly black with flashes of bright orange, similar to the 1994/96 away shirt. As well as the nostalgic use of orange, the jersey boasts numerous other nods to ‘90s football, with a jacquard knit rising from the fabric of the shirt, a beautiful old school style collar and the return of the retro Nike ‘Futura’ logo – a theme for Nike's 19/20 third shirts that started on the new Spurs kit.

An orange trim on the collar and sleeves illuminate an otherwise black jersey which features an embossed ‘CFC’ pattern running in diagonal lines across the shirt. The font, borrowed from ‘90s matchday programmes, adds another layer to the throwback vibes. A squared off collar tops up the retro aesthetic, while ‘Chelsea FC’ is printed across the neckline, above the Nike logo and a club crest, which stands out thanks to an elevated trim.

The shorts are black, while bright orange socks complete the head to toe look and also feature a Nike logo midway up the shin. Chelsea will debut the new third kit against Lille when their European campaign on the road begins October 2nd, and it'll be predominantly used on European away nights throughout the season.

“You can see the ‘90s influence in fashion at the moment and I think the kit will appeal to pretty much everyone,” said Blues midfielder Mason Mount. “Younger fans will like that it has a streetwear vibe and older fans will appreciate the sentimentality, remembering club legends who donned the famous jersey and their memories of going to games.”

Yep, that's some statement from Nike and if you're a fan of a leading Nike club who have yet to release their 2019/20 third shirt then you'll want to stick around in the coming days, because whether we're allowed to say it or not, there are some absolute beauts coming up. Oh, and new Chelsea pre-match jersey, which will be won in Europe along with the new 3rd shirt ain't too bad either is it?
