With a little throwback to just a few years ago, Nike launch the Spartak Moscow 20/21 home and away shirts. Both feature black elements, inspired by the 2016/17 championship season, during which the club used a black kit as their alternate strip.

While the black elements on both the Spartak home and away shirts link to the 2016/17 season – the last time the club won the Russian Premier League, each design also features subtle details that stand them out as a little bit special. Take the home shirt for example; featured throughout the body is a sublimated rhombus graphic that symbolises the diamond that has been the club’s emblem since the 1930s.

It’s a nice touch, and one that is also carried on to the away shirt, albeit in a restricted capacity, on the zig-zag side stripes, an element that has appeared on various Nike shirts already this season. The away shirt is then completed by a traditional polo-style collar and two-button placket.

Both shirts feature a band across the centre – white on the red base of the home shirt, while that’s inverted for the away. And on these bands, placed front and centre to harmoniously tie the designs together, is the team’s emblem. Bold as you like, love it.
