Following the pandemic and the extremely limited amount of football on display last season, Swiss side FC Basel opted to carry over their 20/21 kit into the 21/22 season. But to add to that they have now unveiled a fresh third shirt from technical sponsor adidas.

When Basel play Zurich this Sunday, they will do so in their special third shirt, released as the club's only new kit for the 21/22 season. The monochrome design sees a the black base joined by white details, which pop on the Three Stripes on the shoulders and Β through the sponsor, branding and club crest on the front.

A sublimated pattern runs through the base of the shirt to lend the overall design an added depth. Sure, it's not the most radical design we've seen this season, but it's a nice touch from the club and Adidas to still offer up something fresh alongside the carry-over kits from last season. Whether Basel opt to play in this third shirt for any more of the season is not yet clear, but with the UEFA Conference to contend with alongside domestic competition, it would stand to reason that it will be in use beyond Sunday's fixture.Β
