Inspired by the iconic Vicente Calderón, Nike release the Atletico Madrid 21/22 third shirt, which features a blue base with white and red sleeves that replicate the colours of the iconic stadium’s seats.

Defending La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the club’s current official name of “Club Atlético de Madrid”. As part of the celebrations around that fact, the the club’s home and away shirts have taken inspiration from iconic moments from their history, and the third shirt focuses on the place where many of those moments occurred: the Vicente Calderón stadium.

The Vicente Calderón was home to Atleti for 50 years. It was inaugurated on 2 October, 1966 in a game against Valencia, during which Luis Aragonés scored the first goal of the stadium's history. The last match was played on 21 May 21, 2017, where Atleti beat Athletic Club 3-1, with Fernando Torres netting a brace and Ángel Correa completing the scoring. During those 51 years, the club won 19 titles and enjoyed countless magical nights.

The Atletico Madrid 21/22 third shirt pays tribute to the club’s former home through the colours of its seats: blue, red and white, which takes its place on the collar and cuffs, while the base is a traditional blue. The kit is constructed with 100 percent recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. This helps deliver peak performance with a lower impact on the environment.
