This year is the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Olympics, and as part of the celebrations Nike have drawn inspiration from the 1992 games for FC Barcelona’s home shirt for the 22/23 season.

Barcelona’s home kit for the 21/22 season was somewhat divisive, with the classic blaugrana colourings presented in slightly jarring tones and a contemporary twist on the classic stripes not overly well received. In fact, the third shirt was favoured, with a number of fans claiming that it should’ve been the home option. But for the 22/23 season Nike has got back on track, with a more traditional feeling design that nods to the Barcelona Olympics in the year that the city is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Games.

The Olympic Games brought about social and cultural change for all Barcelona residents, as well as urban development, and the design of the new home shirt pays homage to that. The creation of new spaces and most especially new connections to the sea is represented by the different coloured stripes on the shirt, where red alternates with two different shades of blue, one navy and the other lighter. The same navy blue also features on the collar, sleeves, shorts, and socks.

The 22/23 home shirt also arrives as the first to feature the club's new sponsor, Spotify, and the Swedish audio streaming and media services provider features in a sesame tone in the usual slot.

The new kit that players will wear on the pitch and the replica jerseys for the fans are constructed with 100 percent recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.
