PUMA and Borussia Dortmund have unveiled a special edition jersey reflecting on the Ruhr region's culture, traditionally rooted in coal and steel, which continues to shape BVB to this day.

Coal and steel are gone, but their unifying element, the embers, will never fade. In the home match against Hertha Berlin on Sunday, Borussia Dortmund will debut the black charcoal patterned jersey and steel-look names and numbers. One of the coldest kits of 22/23 for a club that rarely miss when it comes to replica.

At first glance it looks like a simple execution, but look closer and you'll even see the steel look on the names and numbers is integrated with a city map of Dortmund, while both the BVB logo and the partner and Bundesliga logos are in black. The neck of the jersey also features the lettering "Borussia unites". Oh, and it comes in a special edition presentation box too as BVB wrap up the premium feel in style, they even throw in a piece of coal with each box. Seriously.

"The jersey is reminiscent of the ‚Coal and steel‘ special jersey from the year 2019. Also because of the many enquiries and requests to reissue such a jersey, we have decided to relaunch it and hope that we will please many fans with it," says Chief Marketing Officer Carsten Cramer.
