As one of four teams selected by Major League Soccer and adidas to receive a third kit this season, Toronto FC have unveiled the ‘Energy Kit’, which is inspired by the vibrant display of colours, costumes and sounds of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival.

MLS and Adidas have announced that for this season, four sides will receive a third shirt, and first out of the trap is Toronto FC. The idea behind the third jerseys is that they’re designed to lean into the culture of each club’s city and capture authentic stories that are important to the local community and are reflected through bold and progressive designs. So, with that in mind, Toronto’s new bright and bold ‘Energy Kit’ draws from the city’s Caribbean Carnival; one of Toronto’s marquee festivals.

The shirt design pays tribute to Caribbean culture by featuring a bold colour palette synonymous with the sights of Carnival. The textured pattern nod to the bright feathers worn by Mas Bands, complimented by the “All For One” pillars highlighted on the jock tag.

We are thrilled Toronto FC was granted the opportunity to unveil a third kit to our supporters this summer,” said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. “The Energy Kit is one of a kind and it embodies the essence of our vibrant Caribbean community in so many ways. We look forward to our home match on Caribbean Heritage Night and putting the jersey on display at BMO Field for the first time.

The Energy Kit will be worn for the first time during TFC’s annual Caribbean Heritage Night on July 8 against St. Louis City SC at BMO Field. This year’s game will feature an authentic immersion of Caribbean culture, including fusion cuisine in the concourse, a pre-game Caribbean tailgate featuring Soca DJs, participants from the Junior Carnival Parade in the opening ceremony, steel pan bands performances and more. Soca sensation Machel Montano will also be appearing in the kit as part of TFC’s lookbook and providing the soundtrack to the campaign.

"When I first saw the kit, I felt the rhythm right away, and it brought me back to the scenes of our Caribbean Carnival," said Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty. "I feel proud to see my culture represented within our Club and through the Energy Kit. I am excited to wear this kit and continue representing my culture on and off the field.
