Taking action for a great cause, Levante UD players wore a special kit in their game against Racing Ferrol yesterday, promoting the fight against cancer through the depiction of a mastectomy in place of a traditional sponsor.

Cancer is a problem that can potentially effect everybody in the world, and the battle against the disease is one thatโ€™s ongoing, both on a physical and mental level. Showing support for the fight and raising awareness, Spanish Segunda Division side Levante UD unveiled a special kit, featuring the representation of a mastectomy on the chest, with a drawing of a breast on one side and a scar the other, and they wore it in the 1-0 win against Racing Ferrol at Ciutat de Valรจncia.

According to the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), 35,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Spain every year, and the campaign from Levante aims to highlight the importance of research to the battle against the disease, supporting the women who suffer from the illness.

Levanteโ€™s main sponsor, Marcos Automociรณn, graciously stepped aside for the mastectomy image, not hesitating to give up their space on the shirt so that the action could be carried out.

Thanks to the Match Worn Shirt web platform, the signed shirts that the players have worn during the match are being auctioned, while Levante UD will also sell replica versions of the shirt.ย All proceeds from the sales will go entirely to the Spanish Association against Cancer of Valencia.ย
