Nike keep the lights off to drop another collection from the dark side as they update their Academy Pack. Acting as a shadow to the on-pitch colourways, the Academy Pack blocks in blackout for a collection styled in stealth.

The latest Nike Academy Pack features debuts for all four current generation silos as Nike waited for the new Tiempo to join the party before going full blackout with the collection. All black everything submerges each silo lo-cut and hi-collared, meaning the Mercurial Superfly V, Hypervenom 3, Magista Obra II and Tiempo 7, all featured here, are accompanied by Academy Pack editions of the Vapor XI, Hypervenom lo-cut and Magista Opus II.

Just last week Nike launched the "Tech Craft" Pack, another all black collection, but the Academy Pack differs by throwing shadows over the standard uppers of each boot. The Tech Craft Pack is lo-cut exclusive and places a thin layer of leather across each silo. The Academy Pack offers players a traditional level playing field; each boot takes on identical aesthetics allowing players to choose tech over taste.

The Nike Academy Pack was born from professional academies enforcing policies of young players having to wear black boots until they reach the first team, and since then it's gone on to be one of the fastest selling collections in the calendar. The boot design world has almost gone full circle when it comes to colourways. Bright coloured boots were created for players to stand out, but on the professional scene it's the players in complete blackouts that now attract the most attention. It's an old school look in the most advanced classroom of design.
