Nike have mixed up their 'Nike By You' game by introducing a new aesthetic to the Mercurial Vapor XII boot. The customisation feature, previously known as Nike iD, has opened up an alternative option allowing players to design their boots with a multicoloured knit pattern for Summer 2019.

It's a pattern that was introduced on the 'Victory Pack' which will be worn by all Nike athletes in their respective international tournaments this summer. The Mercurial from the 'Victory Pack' features a subtle grey pattern across the upper, but now Nike have turned the volume up by offering players the chance to throw multicolour across black and white canvases to create a unique looking boot which leans on the versatility of the FlyKnit upper.

Once you've selected your base colour of black or white you can then add a 'Graphic Knit' (that's the pattern towards the heel of some of the boots) or a 'Plain Knit' overlay before selecting the Swoosh colour, Swoosh border, lace colour and then your choice of text, flag or symbol. It's unusual timing considering that players have already been spotted training in the next-generation Mercurial, but it's a feature that will no doubt be embraced by players with a keen eye for customisation, and one that could be replicated on other current and future Nike models.
