First there was thunder, now we’re in the centre of the storm as Nike drop the Phantom Vortex pack, which features an all-new pattern on the textured Grip Skin of both the Phantom GX II and the Phantom Luna II.

Back at the beginning of December Nike dropped the Phantom Thunder Pack, pairing up the Phantom GX II and Phantom Luna in uniform colourways, embellished with storm graphics across the heel of each. Now that’s followed up by a direct sequel of sorts, with the Phantom Vortex pack, which again sees the Phantom twins together, with no sign of the Air Max Mercurial or Tiempo Legend. But this is a more advanced pack, with the presence of the next generation of the Phantom Luna II combining with the GX II to together acknowledge Phantom players as being disruptive forces in the game.

As with the Phantom Thunder pack, the Phantom Vortex pack continues with the change in terms of player options, with the Luna now being the only high cut choice, replacing the GX II’s Dynamic Fit, collared version. Visually, the main point of note is the new gripknit pattern, which is inspired by the eye of a storm, focused here on the forefoot strike zone. The optimum positioning has been carefully selected through studies of boot to ball maps, which tallies with the Phantom GX and Luna being pushed as more attack-centric boots.

The pair are presented in a "Green Glow/Black" colourway, and the differences between them are now only the collar, with the GX II adopting the Cyclone 360 soleplate, and the Luna the same Gripknit positioning through the upper.
