Celebrating Ronnie Radford’s famous giant-killing goal that knocked Newcastle United out of The FA Cup in 1972, Mitre have unveiled the collector’s edition Permawhite Max football, which is limited to just 150 units.

Upsets and giant killings are part of what make the FA Cup so special. In 1972, one of the most famous strikes in FA Cup history was scored by non-league Hereford United’s Ronnie Radford to knock out Newcastle United. Now, 50 years on, to celebrate that moment and celebrate 150 years of The Emirates FA Cup, Mitre is bringing back its legendary Mitre Permawhite Max.

Last weekend saw National League side Boreham Wood pulling off the unthinkable on the South coast in the fourth round of competition, and Championship side Nottingham Forest knocking out Premier League giants and holders Leicester City, showing that the magic of the cup is very much alive and kicking. And football enthusiasts can now celebrate the FA Cup and mark the anniversary of Radford’s strike with this true collector’s piece. More than a ball, this is a piece of history.

Crafted from full grain leather panels, and hand stitched to reflect the original design, the Permawhite Max has been manufactured in the same way as the ball leathered into the top corner by Ronnie Radford – a moment etched into footballing folklore. The FA-endorsed Mitre Permawhite Max ball is only available in size 5 and is individually numbered and delivered in its own presentation box – containing a certificate of authenticity.
