As we count down the final minutes to the 2014/15 Premier League kick off we're taking a closer look at the official match ball of the new campaign. As well as the Premier League, the Nike Ordem 2 ball will be used in La Liga & Serie A.

Man United and Swansea will get the Ordem rolling at 12:45pm on Saturday at Old Trafford, but what's the official match ball all about? Nike have ensured the Ordem has unprecedented flight control by using aerodynamic NIKE AEROW TRAC grooves (below), the brand's newest ball innovation that are engineered to grip and channel the air to produce the truest trajectory and most consistent flight.

Some description

The Ordem featured here is the neutral edition of the ball. The Premier League, La Liga and Serie A have all been given unique colourways that feature their respective league logos. 12 Fuse welded panels eliminate the need for old-school stitching whilst offering improved touch and maximum visibility is ensured with Nike RaDaR technology, that's the graphic pattern, which creates a flickering effect as the ball rotates. Clever, eh?

Nike have designed the ball for an explosive response off the foot, Shearer-esque-thunderous-volley explosive responsiveness. For you tech-heads out there the ball is built with a three-layer casing system and a poly-blend wrapped, free-floating carbon latex bladder. Basically, if it ends up in Row Z, it's no-one's fault but your own pal.

The Nike Ordem 2014/15 Football is available to order at select Nike stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer.
