Weekend Football Boots Spotting - 04/10/10

An absolutely bumper football boots spotting from around the globe for you, with players switching boots, changing sole plates and colouring their gear. Check out the best boot spots from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, MLS and more...

Didier Drogba (Chelsea) Nike Mercurial Superfly SL

Drogba made it 13 goals in 13 games against Arsenal, and did so back in the Cherry/Silver versions of his Nike Mercurial Superfly boots - and as always Didier sports the original Mercurial SL soleplate with his coloured upper. Which makes it fair to call these the Nike Mercurial Superfly SL boots now!

Rafael Van Der Vaart (Spurs) Nike CTR360 Maestr

The Dutch maestro was in superb form for Spurs, bagging both goals to add to his Champions League goal in midweek. The Spurs man switched to the Blue Sapphire release of the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots against Aston Villa.

Clint Dempsey Mark Noble - Nike T90 Laser III Elite

Last week we spotted Dempsey in the Red/Black T90 Elite boots - this week the former Vapor wearer is still in the T90's, changing to the latest Elite release colourway in Platinum/Orange. West Ham's Mark Noble also wore this colourway, but must've been in a hurry as he left the "stud screw" sticker on the sole of his boots! Don't worry Mark, we won't tell anyone...

Joe Cole (Liverpool) Nike Tiempo Legend III Elite

Still one of the Tiempo series icons, Cole sported the latest Pearl/Red/Black colourway of the Nike Tiempo Legend Elite football boots against Blackpool, but couldn't help his side avoid a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Seasiders.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher (Blackpool) Puma King XL

Another boot spot from the match at Anfield, where Blackpool's Taylor-Fletcher has been wearing the Puma King XL football boots in the recently released Aged Silver/White colourway. Taylor-Fletcher had previously worn a superbly designed pair of NikeID CTR360 Maestri boots.

Mikael Arteta (Everton) adidas F50 adizero

Some queries to our inbox about whether Everton's Mikael Arteta was sporting a forthcoming colourway of the adizero boots this weekend. Ever the investigative types, our Boot spotters can dispell any such inaccurate rumours and confirm that these are the infact same boots Arteta was spied wearing last month - the regular White/Pink/Black F50 adizero's in leather, with a modified white tongue for the former adipure wearer.

Hugo Rodallega (Wigan) Nike Mercurial Superfly I Custom

We love Rodallega here at the SoccerBible purely for his football boots choices, and the Wigan hitman sported these custom Nike Mercurial Superfly boots, whited-out with Nike (RED) laces and pink/red swoosh as he scored the second to secure 3 points against Wolves.

Image Image

Michael Essien (Chelsea) Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite

In midweek against Maresilles, Essien wore the Nike T90 K-Laser III in Black/Yellow, but playing against Arsenal the Ghana powerhouse switched to the Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite in the stunning Blue Sapphire colour combo. Essien was joined by team-mates Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda who also played in this colourway against the Gunners.

Thierry Henry (NY Red Bulls) Reebok Instante Custom

We don't feature Thierry Henry in Boot Spotting very often, pretty much because he never changes his boots. So imagine our surprise to see the former Barca star sporting these excellent kit-matching Reebok Instante Pro football boots, complete with NY Red and Yellow cosmetic paint job.

Image Image

Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake) adidas F50 adizero

The Real Salt Lake midfielder was spotted wearing the Gold/Black version of the adidas F50 adizero football boots against New England Revolution, where we can only speculate in honour of his fellow countryman Lionel Messi? Perhaps, or maybe he just likes the colour!

Ryan Johnson (San Jose Earthquakes) Puma v1.10 JB Final

Puma released the Puma v1.10 JB Final boots in celebration of the World Cup finals, but we struggled to spy many players wearing the boots in South Africa. No problem now though, as the Earthquakes Ryan Johnson sported the Gold/Green boots against Columbus Crew at the weekend.

Image Image

Luca Toni (Genoa) Lotto Fuerzapura L100

Back in Italy the Genoa striker bagged an assist and late winner for his side against Bari, wearing the Lotto Fuerzapura L100 football boots. Of course, as the main international ambassador for the Italian brand, it isn't that surprising!

Ruben Olivera (Leece) Mizuno Supersonic Wave

The Mizuno Supersonic Wave is a largely underrated football boot, but has been gathering fans of late as players sample what the boots have to offer. So to Leece's Uruguayan midfielder, who is the latest recruit spotted wearing the control / speed / touch hybrid boots.

Image Image

Bojan Krkic (Barcelona) Nike T90 Laser III Elite

The Spanish starlet enjoyed a rare start for the Catalans against Mallorca, and did so wearing the Platinum/Orange colour release of the Nike T90 Laser III Elite boots. Bojan had made the switch to the T90 range a couple of matches previous, first making an appearance from the bench against Athletic Bilbao.

Victor Valdes (Barcelona) Nike Tiempo Legend III

The Barca keeper has been the subject of more Blacked out football boots debate in recent weeks, but chose to wear these completely disguised Nike Tiempo Legend III boots against Mallorca. We also noticed Valdes kept this theme going, disguising any Swoosh or Nike marks on his Nike SGT Confidence gloves...

Image Image

Filipe Luis (Atletico Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor Custom

Another black out debate, another Nike player! Atletico's Filipe Luis sported these stealthy football boots against Bayer Leverkusen in mideweek, which look suspiciously like Nike Mercurial Vapor boots. The Nike (RED) laces are still a nice touch, keeping his support for the cause going!

Mike Frantz (Nurnberg) Nike Mercurial Superfly II Custom

Our final boot spotting of the weekend and another player customising his football boots in a disguise attempt. However, this is the first example we reckon of a half black out, where Nurnberg's Mike Frantz has blacked out the pink half of his Nike Mercurial Superfly II boots! We're sure it would have been a lot easier to start with a different colour, but certainly commend the effort!

Extra boot spotting kudos goes to SoccerBible community members Frankie Foo, ddchile, Heber Hernandez, and a whole load host of other Boot Spotters who sent in their best boot spots.

If there are any players and boots you've spotted and think should feature on this page, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
