F.C. Copenhagen and adidas Celebrate 150 Years of the Club’s Roots

Some markers are worth celebrating in style, and for F.C. Copenhagen, the 150 year anniversary of one of its founding clubs is the perfect example. For the occasion, Adidas have rolled out the special treatment, producing a limited edition shirt, and it’s a beauty.

F.C. Copenhagen and adidas have revealed a special edition heritage jersey to mark the 150-year legacy of Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB), one of the two founding clubs of F.C. Copenhagen. Founded in April 1876, KB (Kjøbenhavns Boldklub) is Denmark’s oldest football club and the earliest established club outside the British Isles. The club was formed in Copenhagen, and first played in the area around what is now Parken, F.C. Copenhagen’s iconic stadium in the heart of the capital. Now, 150 years later, its legacy forms the foundation of Danish football and F.C. Copenhagen itself, and this new retro shirt design acknowledges their influence and impact in making F.C. Copenhagen the club it is.

Kjøbenhavns Boldklub was instrumental in establishing football culture in Denmark and has developed generations of professional players - from early pioneers like Nils Middelboe and Eigil Nielsen to modern internationals such as William Kvist and Thomas Delaney.

Today, KB continues to operate as a key talent development environment, forming the pathway into F.C. Copenhagen’s first team and sustaining its legacy across generations.

The special edition anniversary jersey designed by adidas, features a classic retro aesthetic, built around KB’s iconic blue and white stripes, colours that continue to define F.C. Copenhagen today:

F.C. Copenhagen’s DNA is rooted in one of the oldest football clubs in the world. That’s incredibly rare on a global scale - and something we at adidas are proud to celebrate. This is a tribute that simply couldn’t be made with many other clubs in the world.” Says Henrik Hallberg, Director PR and Brand Communications at adidas Nordics.

The classic striping is complemented by a traditional collar, completing a clean, elegant silhouette. On the chest, the club crest sits opposite the adidas Trefoil logo — a mark of authenticity, heritage, and class.

Adding further gravitas to the celebration, the jersey launch is brought to life by internationally acclaimed actor and lifelong fan Mads Mikkelsen, who lends his voice to the accompanying tribute film.

The jersey will be released on April 24 at 10:00 CET via the official fckfanshop.dk
