Inter Milan’s 2026/27 Third Shirt Is a Stylish Throwback to the Glory Days of the '90s

Nike and Inter Milan have officially unveiled the club's new third kit for the 2026/27 season, and it's a design that will strike a chord with Nerazzurri fans who have a soft spot for one of the club's most memorable aesthetic eras.

Set to make its on-pitch debut against Udinese on 14 September, Inter’s new third shirt for teh 26/27 season from Nike takes a clear trip back to the 1990s, reworking some of the visual cues that helped define Inter's identity during that decade while packaging them in a contemporary performance-focused design.

The jersey arrives in an understated Iron Ore base, giving it a dark, almost stealth-like appearance. A tonal jacquard pattern adds texture throughout, while the standout feature is undoubtedly the broad horizontal black chest band that cuts across the front. Nestled within that stripe is a vibrant Blue Spark line, adding a flash of colour that instantly catches the eye.

Elsewhere, Nike has dipped into a vibrant Speed Yellow for the Swoosh, Inter crest and player names and numbers. Those graphics are inspired by the typography and styling associated with the club during the 1990s, helping to reinforce the retro feel that runs throughout the design.

The details continue around the collar, where a subtle blue trim mirrors the Blue Spark line found beneath the chest band. Inside the shirt, the Inner Pride area features the word "INTER" rendered in graphics inspired by the decade that serves as the kit's creative foundation.

Of course, it doesn't take long to spot the inspiration. The overall look immediately evokes Inter's iconic 1997/98 third shirt, one of the most beloved alternate kits in the club's history. It's a design that has enjoyed something of a cult status among supporters over the years, and one the club has repeatedly revisited in various forms.

Most recently there was the 2020/21 third shirt, which also paid tribute to the famous late-'90s look. While that release leaned heavily into nostalgia, the 2026/27 version feels a little more refined, balancing historic references with a cleaner, more modern execution.

That blend of old and new is ultimately what makes this latest Inter third shirt so appealing. Rather than simply reproducing a classic design, Nike has taken the key elements that made the 1997/98 shirt so memorable and adapted them for a contemporary audience. The result is a jersey that feels familiar without being repetitive, offering a tasteful homage to one of Inter's most celebrated kit eras.
