Women's football continues to push kit design into exciting new territory, and BSC Young Boys have become the latest club to embrace that shift, with the reveal of the new Nike 2026/27 Young Boys Women's Third Shirt. It marks a significant milestone, becoming the first kit in club history designed exclusively for YB Women.

As we explored in our recent feature on How Women's Jerseys Are Changing The Kit Game, women's teams are increasingly moving beyond template designs and hand-me-down concepts, carving out visual identities that are distinctly their own. This latest release from Young Boys feels like another strong step in that direction.

Dressed in a rich purple base with elegant gold detailing, the shirt immediately stands apart. A subtle tonal geometric pattern runs throughout the fabric, adding texture without overwhelming the clean aesthetic, while a classic fold-over collar and gold-trimmed Swoosh elevate the overall look. The YB crest receives a matching gold treatment, sitting proudly against the vibrant purple backdrop. But this launch is about more than just looks.

Purple was chosen for its long-standing association with equality and self-determination, values that align closely with the ambitions of YB Women both on and off the pitch. In an era where kits are increasingly being used as platforms for storytelling and cultural expression, Young Boys have created a design that carries genuine meaning behind its visual identity.

Perhaps the most important detail is the fact that the players themselves helped shape the final outcome. Representatives from the women's squad were actively involved throughout the selection process, ensuring the finished product reflects the team's own vision and personality rather than simply being assigned from above.

That collaborative approach feels increasingly relevant. As women's football continues its rapid growth, clubs and brands alike are recognising the importance of creating products with players rather than for them. The result is often more authentic, more distinctive and ultimately more powerful.

The campaign launch reinforces those themes. Set within Bern's historic Erlacherhof, the official residence of the city's mayor, the unveiling links the team to both the city's heritage and its future. It's also a location that already holds special significance for the squad, having hosted celebrations following Young Boys Women's 2024/25 league title success.

The imagery makes the most of the setting too. Ornate interiors, warm natural light and architectural details provide an elegant backdrop for the shirt, allowing the bold purple and gold palette to take centre stage. It's a campaign that feels considered from top to bottom.

The new Nike third shirt will make its on-pitch debut when YB Women take on GC Women on 17 October.

The Young Boys Third Shirt is available through the official BSC Young Boys online shop and selected club stores.
