New Balance Drop the 'Neon Tide' Pack Ahead of the New Season

With the World Cup reaching its closing stages and the new domestic season already looming on the horizon, New Balance have unveiled their latest football footwear collection: the ‘Neon Tide’ Pack. Headlined by the all-new Furon v9, the pack also includes fresh takes on the Tekela and 442, all tied together by striking Alkaline Green detailing.

If you've been keeping a close eye on the World Cup, there's a good chance you've already spotted the new Furon v9 in action. Both Bukayo Saka and Tim Weah have been seen wearing the ‘Neon Tide’ edition, with Saka notably debuting the boot during his appearance against DR Congo. Although the Arsenal star reverted to the pink tones of the ‘Pure Ambition’ pack for England's memorable win over Mexico, the brief glimpse was enough to put the spotlight firmly on New Balance's latest speed boot.

The launch is being championed by several of New Balance's biggest football athletes, including Saka himself, who played an active role in the development of the Furon v9. "I spent a lot of time with the product team to give feedback on the Furon v9 so it feels right in realistic game movements. I tested out small details that will affect the comfort and performance on the pitch," said Saka.

It's easy to see why the brand is making such a fuss over the new model. The Furon v9 arrives in a clean White/Alkaline Green colourway and, at approximately 177 grams (size 9.5), it's the lightest football boot New Balance has ever produced. Designed with speed in mind, every aspect of the boot has been stripped back and refined to maximise performance.

The lightweight, breathable mesh upper delivers a snug, second-skin fit while maintaining a close connection with the ball. The result is a boot built for explosive acceleration, quick stops, and sharp changes of direction, exactly the sort of movements modern attackers rely on.

New Balance Senior Category Manager for Football, Michael Mills, explained the thinking behind the design: "The Furon v9 gives players that critical support while they read the game, change course, and explode into open space with confidence. Every detail supports fast reactions and sharp changes of direction while players create separation and disrupt defences.

Away from the Furon, the rest of the ‘Neon Tide’ Pack follows a slightly different path. The Tekela arrives in a vibrant Metallic Blue/Alkaline Green/Team Navy combination, with the metallic blue finish dominating the upper and providing a bold contrast to the lighter tones seen elsewhere in the collection. It's an eye-catching look that ensures the Tekela stands apart while still feeling connected to the wider pack.

Meanwhile, the 442 takes a more traditional approach. Dressed predominantly in white and accented with flashes of Alkaline Green, it delivers a familiar aesthetic that fans of the silo will instantly recognise. It may not be the most adventurous design in the collection, but its clean, classic appearance remains undeniably effective.
