Taking city rivalry and mixing it with a nostalgic nod to the casual culture that ingrained the Three Stripes in Liverpudlian history, adidas have released the ‘Merseyside Pack’, which features two Trimm Trabs in your choice of either Liverpool Red or Everton Blue.

Everton or Liverpool. Blue or red. You’re one or the other. The local council even had to colour the wheelie bins purple (mixing both colours) supposedly to appease both sets of fans. And it’s this level of passion, contained within such close proximity, that marks the rivalry of Merseyside out as special. To celebrate the relationships in the city – between fans and brand as well as that special rivalry between the clubs – adidas have released the ‘Merseyside Pack’, which takes the classic Trimm Trab, and colours it in Everton Blue or Liverpool Red.

Casual culture was a phenomenon that gripped football terraces up and down the country in the late 70s and early 80s, and no where was this as apparent than in Liverpool. Sports shop owner Robert Wade Smith first brought the Trimm-Trab back to Liverpool in the 80s, and it became an instant staple of the casual uniform, seen both in Anfield and Goodison Park.

As for the construction of these classics, the upper is a luxurious Nubuck, with adidas signature gold foil lettering proudly calling out the Trimm Trab name. White leather overlays on the Stripes and heel tab provide a sharp contrast while the coordinates 53⁰ 26’ 07.5”N 2⁰ 57’39.1”W, which lead to the centre of Stanley Park, smack bang in between Anfield and Goodison, are embossed in the collar lining of each shoe.

You can pick up the adidas 'Merseyside Pack' Trimm Trabs from 13 April.
