Marking the 20th anniversary of their dramatic Champions League victory in 1999 adidas Originals have launched a celebratory Manchester United sneaker which acts as a tribute to that famous night in Barcelona. The silhouette, which is named the Barcelona 99 is the latest drop to honour the landmark year for the club.

The sneaker, which takes on a traditional adidas Originals design uses a leather upper with a suede toe overlay, but it's in the details where the story comes through. The white and red upper keeps the aesthetic wearable on a wider scale than a red/white reverse would in reference to United's home colours and 'Barcelona 99' sits on outside of the shoe to subtly brand it.

There's a fine line between smart and naff when making club-specific sneaker and adidas Originals have ensured this drop sits on the right side with low-key details in an "if you know, you know" style. The insoles feature the Manchester United club crest in the left shoe and an image of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer celebrating his incredible 93rd minute winner in the right shoe. Yep, much more stylish than the recently released David Beckham UltraBoost to honour the same season.
