Once again drawing influence from the club’s illustrious past as they build for a bright future, New Balance launch the Liverpool 2019/20 home kit. Bringing back an iconic look from the early 80s, the shirt features a strong influence from legendary manager Bob Paisley.

Liverpool are currently riding high, challenging for the Premier League and facing the prospect of a mouth-watering encounter with Barcelona in the Champions League semi final. As the club continue to build for the future, New Balance has once again decided to reveal the club’s new on-pitch look for next season relatively early, giving fans a good chance to get used to the look, which draws influence from the past.

The brighter red colouring is quite a radical departure from the popular kits of the last two seasons – both of which featured a darker shade of red. But the most notable additions for next season are the pinstripes on the front, which last appeared across two kits from 1982-85. The 1982-83 season – when the pinstripes first appeared – was Bob Paisley’s last at the helm, and the shirt is intrinsically linked to the former manager, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year, with his signature also featuring in the inner collar.

The shirt has once again been developed using New Balance’s NB DRY technology, a moisture wicking fabric that helps keep players fresh and dry throughout the match. A bonded chest seam, mesh top yoke, placement ventilation and a back body map and construction are also included to promote freedom of movement on the elite jersey.

General Manager of New Balance Football, Kenny McCallum said: “We’re extremely excited and proud to reveal the New Balance Liverpool FC Home Kit. Bob Paisley’s incredible legacy was the ultimate inspiration for the 2019/20 strip in what would have been his 100th year. We hope this design will bring success to the club as it did when Paisley was manager.

It’s a strong look, and it’s one that all Liverpool fans will be hoping to see a Premier League winners badge on the arm... and a Champions League winners badge on the other...
