Nike take a new direction for Chelsea’s 2019/20 home shirt, creating a look that is entirely unique to the Blues. Created as a homage to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's home ground for over a century, the shirt features an all-over sublimated graphic with imagery of the famous stadium.

Stamford Bridge has been Chelsea’s home since 1905, and to celebrate that fact and the stadium itself, the new Chelsea home shirt for the 2019/20 season from Nike draws huge influence from it. The Bridge is woven into the very fabric of the new kit and the shirt is covered in an all-over graphic comprising imagery of the Matthew Harding Stand, the East and West Stands and the famous Shed End.

Stamford Bridge was the focal point of the design process for Chelsea’s 2019/20 shirt, and Nike’s team captured images from inside the stadium which would eventually merge to form the overall aesthetic. The shirt features a stylish V-neck, while a red and white ‘CFC’ monogram decorates the back of the collar. Inside, a Lion borrowed from the club crest is featured with the ‘PRIDE OF LONDON’ written around it, symbolising the Blues’ mantra and what they represent.

It’s refreshing to see such a radical look arriving in the Premier League in a time when the boundaries of shirt design are constantly being pushed. Nike has been accused of producing generic templates for its teams in the past, but this is anything but, with a look that is Chelsea through and through.

The Chelsea 2019/20 home will be worn for the first time on May 4 during the club’s final league home game of the season, and you can pick it up from prodirectsoccer.com
