After narrowly missing out on a place at English football’s top table, Derby County prepare for another push for the Prem, and they’ll do so in their new 2019/20 home shirt from Umbro, which takes inspiration from the kit worn during the 1995/96 season.

The Derby County 2019/20 home shirt pays homage to the 1995/96 promotion season under Jim Smith by creating a new intricate graphic that also showcases the iconic stanchions that adorn the skyline of Pride Park. The unique black and white design runs through the raglan sleeves, leaving the main body in the traditional white, barring the sponsor and club crest. The wording “EST 1884” features on the back of the neck in the club’s personal Baseball Ground typeface wording for another individual touch.

Jonathan McCourt, Umbro’s UK Marketing Manager, said: “We’re really excited about Derby County’s new home kit. With its 1990’s graphical feel, and referencing the 1995/96 season shirt which the fans will know so well, we hope that the new strip will be one the supporters can identify with given its roots whilst also creating new and lasting memories on and off the pitch.

Whether Derby can push on again in the 2019/20 season and make that final step to return to the Premier League remains to be seen, but the squad certainly seems to have a good unity and there are positive vibes coming from the club as a whole. Just got to hope that they can retain the services of their top players and manager, but there's no doubt they'll look the part in this stunning new shirt.
