Manchester United complete their 2019/20 replica collection as adidas unveil the club's new third shirt. It's a design that is steeped in history, with the inspiration dating back 110 years to United's first ever FA Cup win. A bespoke design with club DNA throughout, should go down well.

The new third shirt for the 2019/20 campaign features a subtle rose graphic and inscription that pays homage to the kit the club wore when they first lifted the trophy in 1909. They've added a fair few more since that 1-0 win over Bristol City but this design marks a date that will forever be significant. The unique rose print is understated in grey and black tones, a tribute to the Lancashire rose the club wore 110 years ago.

In a stylish interpretation of the club’s heritage, the rose features throughout the body of the shirt. A short inscription features on the bottom left side of the shirt which reads, "110 Years - Manchester Rose – 1909-2019". The club badge, in a fresh solar red, contrasts with the minimal dark tones of the shirt, simple crewneck collar and tonal three-stripes on the shoulders.

It's a shame that club sponsor Chevrolet are still playing hardball when it comes to changing the colour of their logo, as this season's United kits would've been right up there if AIG, Vodafone or Sharp were still knocking about. If it feels like you've seen this design before, it's because you kind of have; the clues were there when adidas launched the UltraBoost x Manchester United "Red Rose" edition last month in the same colour scheme and references to the landmark year.
