For the first time, Flamengo combines its traditional colours with some hits of iridescence with their 23/24 third shirt from adidas. Darkness dominates, but the flashy accents lend the club a striking look for the coming months.

There’s many ways to catch attention in the world of jersey design, and adidas have done so for Brazilian side Flamengo by introducing some iridescent elements to their latest kit. The Rubro-Negro’s 23/24 third shirt utilises the club’s classic red and black colour scheme (on the on-pitch version, at least) to give the shirt a traditional feel, but it then ramps up the radical by giving the branding and club crest a flashy iridescent shine.

As always with South American jerseys, you virtually get two versions – one uber-clean version without sponsors, which here is also devoid of red, and one cluttered jumble that squeezes sponsors into almost every available space, often bordering on the gloriously chaotic side – fine lines. And that’s the case here. Red accents become more prominent through the sponsor and on the sides, making it seem quite different to the sponsor-less version, but both appealing in their own way.
