New season, new boots. After a series of early on-pitch appearances, we take our first official look at the new adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 football boots.

Adidas have upgraded their Nitrocharge silo in time for the 2014/15 season kick-off. Launching in a “Black/Metallic Silver/Solar Gold” colourway, the second generation Nitrocharge 1.0 builds on the fundamental features of the original boot, giving new levels of energy return and protection during a 90 minute game.

The key feature of the boot, the adidas energy sling, has been updated in size and design to provide maximum locked-in support in side cuts and turn movements. Unlike the first generation model, the redesigned energy sling runs parallel with the three-stripes to offer a more natural fit across the mid-foot. Adidas say the update is based on gait analysis of Nitrocharge players and feedback from professionals themselves.

Other new features include a refined kevlar mesh material across the mid-foot and rear-foot areas of the boots. Designed as a superstring protective mesh layer concept for 90-minute protection, the material has been further enhanced with pre-molded protection pads across the heel and side of the mid-foot.

The toebox has also been given a sleeker redesign, with adidas creating a more refined, seamless surface. The first-generation protective pads have been replaced with a refocused protective zone across the toecap area. In similar fashion to the f50 adizero, a three-dimensional grip texture has also been applied to the forefoot.

The outsole of the boot remains unchanged. The Energy Pulse technology introduce in the launch Nitrocharge model returns to provide high energy output during the toe-off phase. Built on adidas’ sprint frame construction with Traxion 2.0 studs for multidirectional grip, the responsive chassis enables optimum energy output by returning to shape far quicker.

The new “Black/Metallic Silver/Solar Gold” adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 is available from today at selected adidas stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer.
