The Dutch are happy to go with the flow and if someone has a good idea, they'll run with it. Allowing a famed tattoo artist to design the Eredivisie match ball is a brilliantly creative idea. So, guess what we've got here?

Famed tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher has been allowed the creative freedom to design the official match ball of Holland's top flight for the 2017/18 season. And why not? An idea that would no doubt scare the living daylights out of the English FA, the Dutch FA have given the go ahead for Schiffmacher to add a sense of Amsterdam culture to the match ball.

Some description

Symbols from the capital are designed onto the ball that stand for "power and connection" in Schiffmacher's own words. Schiffmacher is a known figure on the Dutch football scene, his work can be seen on the skin of a number of Eredivisie players and fans, triggering the league to approach him to quite literally mark the sixtieth anniversary of Holland's top flight. The ball will make it's debut appearance in the final round of Eredivisie league games on Sunday 14th May. Custom creation captured and embraced. We've got a lot a time for that.
