With a vibrant overlay on the existing match ball template, adidas and the Argentine Football Federation have unveiled the Argentum 21, official match ball for the 2021 campaign, which is set to debut in the final of the 2020 Copa de la Liga on 17 January.

The Copa de la Liga in Argentina was recently renamed and is now officially known as the Copa Diego Armando Maradona, in memory of the great man. Somewhat fittingly, Boca Juniors will face off against Banfield for the trophy on 17 January (18th depending on your time zone) and we now know what the ball will look like for the final, with adidas unveiling the Argentum 21, which will make its debut in the match before being used in the coming campaign.

The template for the Argentum 21 is the same that has been used in the major tournaments for the last three years, since its debut as the Telstar 18 for the 2018 World Cup, and tech-wise there’s nothing new to report on here. The changes are purely aesthetic, with some bright and vibrant graphic overlays taken from the national flag and from the competition itself providing the ball with an eye-catching new look.
