adidas mark Messi's record breaking goal with special edition F50.

Leo Messi has written and re-written record after record since making his Barca debut in 2003. Four Ballon d'Ors, six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues later Messi has now broken Paulino Alcantara's all time goal scoring record of 369 goals for Barcelona and adidas have marked the astounding achievement with a celebratory pair of Messi F50 boots.

To celebrate this record, adidas has created 370 pairs of special edition boots, each one uniquely labelled #001 - #370 to represent each of Leo's goals along the way. (Our pair paying tribute to his 365th Barca goal scored against Man City at the Etihad in the Champions League).

Alcantara's record had stood since 1927 but was overtaken by the Argentinian after he scored a hat trick against Osasuna on Sunday. When you consider Messi is just 26 years-old, this 370 goal record is an incredible landmark in his career and chances are he might just add a few more to that tally before he hangs up his adidas boots.

The iridescent design on the soleplate of the boot compliments the upper to pull off a truly unique product and one that belongs firmly on the collectors' shelves rather than the pitch. For the lucky 370 people who snap up a pair the boots come with a small collector's edition booklet explaining the story further and picking out some of Messi's most famous goals along the way.

Upon breaking the record, Messi said: "When I was growing up I always dreamt of a career as a footballer. Each goal I have scored has been special in its own way. I never would have broken the record without my teammates. Being the all-time top goal-scorer for such an amazing club is a true honour. I would like to thank adidas for the fact that they have produced these beautiful boots to celebrate this new record".
