New Balance have given their leading football boot silos a seasonal re-fresh as new colourways wrap around the Furon V5 and Tekela V2. Taking on a "Sulphur/Phantom" theme, the collection is a uniformed one that will take its place on-pitch from this weekend as New Balance's contracted pro players return to domestic action.

The Furon V5 adopts the more vibrant outfit of the two with a "Sulphur/Phantom" design to emphasise its speed boot status, while the control-themed Tekela V2 is handed a more low-key "Phantom/Sulphur" look as the primary colours are flipped from the Furon. Expect to see Liverpool's Sadio Mane switch into the Furon when his side travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Tech wise, it's as we were. The Furon 5.0 offers that explosive acceleration and striking benefit, with a smaller lacing system that only covers the upper section of the tongue area to provide the clean lace contact zone technology – essentially a larger sweet spot that is free from the interference of lace when striking the ball. The Tekela is aimed at the playmakers with its single piece throat and collar and fully bonded no-sew seam technology for superior midfoot lock-in and ultimate feel on the ball. Refined and reprogrammed K-Stitch dynamic embroidered bands then provide definitive forefoot lockdown and aggressive cutting stability.
