Ready for the business end of the season, Nike have unveiled the new Premier League Flight Third Ball that will be the official match ball for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign.

As has become tradition over the last few seasons, Nike has revealed a fresh update to its current Flight ball, preparing it for all the drama that the final third of the season usually brings. Will Arsenal be able to maintain their impressive form and hold off Manchester City to lift their first Premier League trophy since 2003/04? Will Everton have enough to avoid relegation and maintain their status as one of the Premier league’s ever-presents? Will Liverpool have enough to get that oh so important top four spot? And will Chelsea finally find out what their strongest 11 actually is?

Set to have its first competitive action this weekend in Matchweek 27, which kicks off with AFC Bournemouth hosting Liverpool on Saturday 11 March at 12:30, the new look Flight Ball follows suit with the original ball for the 22/23 season and the hi-vis winter-ready version that it takes the baton from. So it sees a reinterpretation of that same aesthetic that nods to the 30th anniversary of the commencement of the Premier League, way back in 1992.

The same oversized 'X' graphics dominate the white base, no doubt incorporated to increase visibility on the pitch, but for this third ball they’ve been distorted through an over-layered graphic. That blocky ‘NIKE’ wording from the original is gone, replaced by the Swoosh, just like on the Hi-Vis ball. And that’s about it. Obviously nothing new tech-wise, so all that remains is for this one to be well and truly spanked into the backs of nets up and down the country.
