August 15th 1992. On the day that the Premier League turns 25 we remember the first ever Sky TV advert for the launch of the reformatted Premier League. Titled 'Whole New Ball Game' the video featured players from all participating clubs as the old First Division was rebranded into the multi-billion pound industry as we know it today.

A time when football was purer, money didn't rule all and kits were nothing short of magnificent. Heavy, oversized and sometimes beautifully ugly, but always magnificent. Haircuts, black boots, probably one too many shower scenes and an almighty soundtrack from Simple Minds 'Alive and Kicking'.

August 15th 1992, when Brian Deane rose highest to head home the Premier League's first ever goal past Peter Schmeichel at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane. A time when the world's most expensive player was a £10m Jean-Pierre Papin. A lot has happened in that relatively short amount of time but only Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester City can boast about lifting the prestigious prize.
