Philadelphia Union once more prove to be one step ahead of the curve having introduced an Official Footwear Customisation Service to the club. Having become the first club to introduce an official tattoo artist last season, this development sees them once more step out where others aren't.

Footwear and apparel retailer KicksUSA have been awarded with the title of 'Official Footwear Customization Service of the Philadelphia Union. As part of the partnership KicksUSA will team up with local footwear production house, Garrixon, to provide boot customisation for the Union players. Through state-of-the-art design and production facilities, KicksUSA, Garrixon and Philadelphia Union will create one-of-a-kind boots reflecting players’ personal tastes and personalities.

Describing the partnership, Jean-Paul Dardenne, Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships for Philadelphia Union explained; “KicksUSA is a perfect fit for us, and we’re excited to roll out this never before seen partnership. We think our players will love this one-of-a-kind service, and we also think our fans will enjoy the increased retail distribution that a premium partner like KicksUSA offers."

Adding to that, Doug Vosik, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications for the club went into detail in showcasing this fresh milestone, explaining, "No professional team has ever had a boot customization service to this level, creating cleats from the ground up at this intricate standard of personal service and style. KicksUSA is at the forefront of design and innovation, and we’re excited to see what they can create in partnership with our players.”

For those outside the states, KicksUSA is a store based in Philadelphia and was established in 2002. Since then, it has expanded to 60+ locations in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York and Maryland. For Philadelphia Union, it's another step in the direction of trend. Listening to what is going on in the game from the locker room through to fan culture, they're wholly engaged.
