Mr Reebok is all in for the adidas takeover at Old Trafford. In his playing days Ryan Giggs was all about wearing Reebok boots but now he's on the coaching staff he's been kitted out with a pair of adidas Gloro boots, complete with United red tongue to match the brand's new teamwear selection.

Jonas Knudsen (Ipswich Town) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

The Football League kicked off at the weekend which hosted a whole array of new season boots but Ipswich Town's Jonas Knudsen wasn't tempted into anything new over the summer by remaining is his Nike 'Reflective Pack' Mercurial Vapor IX boots. Originally launched in December 2013, the Pack consisted of a HyperVenom, Mercurial, Tiempo and CTR, all featuring distinctive white reflective patterns towards the heel area of each design.

Callum Paterson (Hearts) Under Armour Speedform

As far as blackout designs go the Under Armour Speedform Leather is up there with the very best releases this summer. Drenched in a no-nonsense colourway with stand out branding it's been no surprise to see them on the feet of professionals returning for the new season. Just a white logo away from being a prototype, sometimes less is definitely more.

Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Philippe Coutinho was amongst a number of Nike players kicking off the Premier League season in the new 'Lightning Storm' Pack. The Liverpool forward took all the headlines by scoring a spectacular late winner against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, but not before he found time to switch out of the Lightning Pack colourway and into the previous 'Silver Storm' editions.

Lewis Hall (Sorrento) Nike CTR360 Maestri II

Lewis Hall had us reminiscing over Euro 2012 this week when he laced up in the Nike 'Clash Collection' CTR360 Maestri II against Sydney FC in the FFA Cup. Launched in the build up to the tournament in Poland & Ukraine the Clash Collection was one of the most memorable boot packs of international football as Nike split the design of the silos with one powerful coloured heel paired with a white upper.

David Wotherspoon (St Johnstone) Joma Super Copa

If David Wotherspoon was simply out to find the perfect boot/kit combo vibe then he's nailed it by matching up St Johnstone's home strip with the Joma Super Copa. The Super Copa struggled to break onto the professional scene and has since been replaced as the brand's lead speed boot by the Propulsion 3.0. Nevertheless, it's still refreshing to see players step away from the leading football brands.

Makino Tomoaki

Makino Tomoaki (Japan) adidas F50 adizero

We spotted Makino Tomoaki mixing up his footwear not too long ago and he's back at it wearing odd adidas F50 adizero colourways again. There's always a few players a season that for whatever reason feel the need to do this and Tomoaki has started early. Wear odd shoes to work as a footballer and you're quirky & creative, wear odd shoes to work anywhere else and you're the office lunatic. Footballers eh? They do what they want.

Alvaro Negredo
Alvaro Negredo

Alvaro Negredo (Valencia) New Balance Furon

Alvaro Negredo has yet to give new sponsors New Balance any real on-pitch exposure by remaining in the whiteout prototypes of the Furon silo. Whereas other players such as Aaron Ramsey have worn the Visaro colourway from the word go Negredo has stayed undercover in a silo that has so far played very little part in the game as the Visaro is installed firmly as New Balance's lead boot.

Jonathan Douglas (Ipswich Town) Nike Mercurial Veloce II

Jonathan Douglas has taken boot design into his own hands after being left presumably unimpressed by the hundreds of new drops over the summer. The Ipswich midfielder has given his Mercurials an all-over blackout look which allows his personalisation and Swoosh on the tongue to take centre stage on an old school backdrop.

Roma's Seydou Keita was keeping things traditional this week too by opting for the adidas 'Pure Leather' Pack F50 adizero. Closing the curtain on a huge landmark year for adidas the Pure Leather Pack dropped in December 2014 with the F50 adizero, Predator Instinct and Nitrocharge 1.0 each deconstructed and lovingly wrapped up in a premium K-Leather upper.

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay (Manchester United) Under Armour Speedform

Memphis Depay can't tie his laces quick enough these day, Under Armour are seemingly dishing him out a new Speedform colourway for every game he plays. The latest signature design found on the feet of United's new number seven was an exclusive blue/white drop complete with his trademark title 'Dreamchaser'. The colourway won't be hitting shelves but Under Armour are certainly putting their eggs in one basket, a talented one at that albeit.
